Pike School of Art - Mississippi recently created Art Bags to hand out at Trunk or Treat on Summit Street. However, that event was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. So, on Friday, October 30, we distributed the Art Bags at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Mississippi. And on Saturday the 31st, we handed them out to the PIZZAZZ Dance Group at Southwest Mississippi Multiplex for Early Innovative Intervention Studies. The canvas logo tote bags contained a self-published PSA-MS Fall 2020 Activity Booklet with various games to help build skill and knowledge with the alphabet, numbers, counting and more. The bags also included everything a budding artist needs to get started making their own artworks: a Day-Glo blank booklet, a pack of 24 Crayola crayons, a pair of Westcott 5” blunt-point scissors, an Elmer’s glue stick, three sharpened #2 Pencils, and a neon pencil sharpener. The bags also contained a coupon for a free Wendy's Frosty Jr. provided by Stella Page at Local Works, McComb's newly opened coworking space. The PSA-MS Fall 2020 Activity Booklet and Art Bags were made possible by sponsorship from FitLife Sportsplex, Walmart McComb, Mrs. Dianne Burris at Dianne's Art School, Cross Tech Cultural Center at The Charles R. Crossley Memorial Gallery (opening in Spring 2021), Dr. Valerie Turner at Mississippi Dentistry for Children, The Laundry Room, Gulf South Art Gallery, First Bank, and several individual supporters. The project was so well received that PSA-MS plans to distribute Art Bags again around Christmastime.
