Feeding hungry neighbors

Share the Table opens in new window has worked to combat food insecurity in North Carolina’s Onslow and Pender counties since 2010. It operates a client-choice food pantry, which features a grocery store-like setup where clients choose their own items as opposed to receiving a prepacked bag or box. The organization also hosts a weekly community meal, high school food closet and backpack program for elementary and middle school students.

A one by one grant provided branded notebooks, which were given as thank-you gifts to volunteers who make Share the Table’s impact possible. The team of about 120 make the annual distribution of 620,000 pounds of food a reality.

Connecting children with their local library

Mars Area Public Library opens in new window has helped inform, educate and entertain Mars, Pennsylvania, community members for more than 70 years. Powered by volunteers, library programming includes book and board game clubs, author events and community conversations, plus activities for teens and children.

A one by one grant provided branded plastic bags for a celebration of National Read Across America® Day. The bags helped keep approximately 550 students’ belongings—including library cards, scavenger hunt sheets and books—together and organized during the event.

Raising awareness for a partner animal shelter

Ambassadors of Hoke County Animals opens in new window was launched in 2024 by four women with a passion for animals and a drive to help their local animal shelter. Hoke County, North Carolina, is a heavily rural area where abandonments and strays are common. The Ambassadors group sprung up to help in a variety of ways, including by sharing social media content and hosting pet vaccination and microchipping events.

A one by one grant provided hand sanitizer, which was given to residents at a community event. The promotional giveaways were used to raise awareness for Hoke County Animal Shelter and, in the long run, help more animals find loving homes.
