The plastic is thin and brittle, not soft and plyable as expected. The carabiner comes in a plastic sack attached to the bottle with a plastic tag. The whole reason we ordered these was to reduce waste. We had to remove each carabiner sack and tag before selling them to avoid having the litter everywhere. It was a pain--would rather have a scratched carabiner then all the waste. It was, however, a popular sales item and a good alternative to the soft plastic water bottles (these were purchased for a backpacker/hiker event).
